Raeesah says Police 'part of the solution' after alleging police's mishandling of rape survivor

On the occasion to commemorate SPF 200 Anniversary, WP Raeesah Khan made a serious allegation against the police's treatment of rape survivors, saying that her example was not an isolated one.

Her allegation caused an uproar on social media. But she isn't the first WP MP to make an unsubstantiated allegation in Parliament. Back in 2014, fellow MP Faisal Manap did the same and subsequently apologised for it.

No integrity at all. The Online Citizen (TOC) has refused to apologise for the controversy caused by their video of the incident involving the elderly woman and the Singapore Police Force (SPF). TOC claims that they have been “appropriate and fair” when interviewing the elderly woman.

The elderly woman’s son had sent a legal letter to TOC on 7 Jul 2021. The letter stated that TOC “had made a judgment lapse” and an apology was requested by 12 July 2021.

In a malicious attempt to damage trust in Police, TOC uploaded an interview with the elderly woman who denied in the video that police had bought her food. The woman's daughter is very upset that her mother who has dementia had been taken advantage of by TOC to spin a story. The story was also squashed by bodyworn camera footages which showed police buying food for the woman.
