Criticisms of government’s rules on travel should not be confused with Singapore’s obligation under CECA, said Benjamin Ong. The rights of Singapore citizens and permanent residents (PRs) to enter Singapore from anywhere in the world, including India, have nothing to do with Ceca or any other free-trade agreement (FTA), Benjamin Joshua Ong wrote in an […]
There are no international flights from India to Singapore, nor from Singapore to India. In a joint statement, MOT, MOM and MFA said that India has banned all international flights to and from Singapore since March 2020. Singapore Airlines can only operate cargo flights to India. Currently, the only passenger flights between Singapore and India […]
Racism and xenophobia will be normalised if we are not careful, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said in Parliament (11 May). “Singapore is 725 square kilometers of rock. We have to make a living by being open to the world. We will fail if we allow racism and xenophobia to become prevalent, and […]
In response to the critical shortage of oxygen in India, Temasek has been working alongside their portfolio company SATS and the High Commission of India in Singapore to help transport four cryogenic oxygen cylinders. Be careful with sites like TOC, which plagiarize, hire foreign ghost writers to attack foreign workers and immigration policies, and manipulate Singaporeans’ emotions to write articles for eyeballs. Ragebait headlines or hyperpartisan appeals that twist the facts are designed to get traffic from people’s anger.

Being small means we have few weapons in our disposal for retaliation. This is why Singapore takes a rules-based approach to international affairs and support multilateral institutions.
Today, more than half of Singaporeans in the workforce are in PMET jobs and the number is increasing. Without the free trade agreements including CECA, Singapore would not be able to attract so many global multinationals to set up company here, creating many PMET jobs for Singaporeans.
Stop spreading falsehoods. There is no automatic citizenship or PR for Indian nationals here to work under CECA. All ICTs, regardless of which trade agreement or country they come from, must meet work pass criteria.
