A Singaporean in Banking speaks

Singaporean - Jobs by meritocracy not birth right job competition

Benjamin Chan says it is important to have Singaporeans in top jobs, but only by his/her own merits rather than their birthrights.

To the millennial Singaporeans – don’t assume it is your birthrights to get a job in Singapore. Fight for it and polish up your CVs.

To the MPs – don’t take the easy route of socialism and protectionism just to win votes. Preserve what made us an economic miracle but enforce fairness in the workplace so that qualified Singaporeans don’t get sidelined.

To the “other Singaporeans” – don’t just complain why other foreigners are ahead of you. Venture out and get some overseas experiences as well. Life is not always fair, deal with it!

From co-driver to free-rider; the free-riding politics of Workers’ Party

Free Rider Workers' Party

The Workers’ Party promised a First World Parliament. But first world parliament did not materialized.

Next, they asked Singaporeans to make them the insurance for Singapore lest the PAP failed.

And then they told Singaporeans they had no intention to form the next government. They issued a bounced cheque.

First World Parliament floated away like a test balloon and the co-driver went to sleep. Enter the free rider.

Dr. Jamus Lim – Wake Up!

Jamus Lim - Jamus Jerome Lim - Workers' Party - Minimum Wage

“The problem now is how to work the system of one man, one vote when we have to get quality leadership to the top. If we leave it to natural processes it will be a contest on television performances as in the West. And the best television performers and rally entertainers are not necessarily the best leaders who can deliver good government”

Foreigners stealing Singaporeans’ jobs or Singaporeans stealing foreigners’ jobs?

Singaporean jobs

Politicians like to exploit the anti-foreigner sentiment to widen the ‘Singaporeans vs PRs/FTs’ divide. This is irresponsible. Globalized companies draw their talents from all over the world. Only by remaining open, and welcoming of foreigners. and providing businesses with the access to global expertise they need, can good jobs be anchored here for Singaporeans.
